250MW Torrens Island grid-scale battery project

Take a closer look at the epic journey of our 160/278 MVA 275/33/33kV power transformer to the 250MW Torrens Island grid-scale battery in South Australia and its installation.
The unit was transported from our manufacturing facility in Glen Waverley on an enormous 390-tonne, 90m superload. This has been a complex and dynamic operation that required months of planning and preparation. The project, owned by AGL and currently being constructed by Wärtsilä Energy, is planned to be fully operational by early 2023 to support renewable energy generation in the region.
